Protein Losing Enteropathy (PLE)

"I want you to know that your protocol saved Shilo's life. Just a recap: The vet sent him home to die with PLE... he had fluid in his belly and limbs.  He couldn't digest fats and not even proteins.  And went from 60 lbs to 45.  And only "water" came out of him.  It took a while... but I kept him on your protocol and slowly but surely, he is back to normal and is gaining his weight back."

Protein-Losing Enteropathy (PLE) is a serious condition where excessive amounts of protein are lost from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, leading to low blood protein levels. It's a syndrome, not a specific disease, often caused by underlying issues like blocked lymph vessels in the small intestines or chronic inflammatory bowel disease .

Symptoms include:

•  Chronic, intermittent or severe diarrhea (may contain mucus).

•  Vomiting, decreased appetite, weight loss.

•  Swelling (edema) in legs or abdomen (ascites).

•  Fluid in the chest (pleural effusion), causing breathing difficulty

Your vet will likely do blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds and other expensive procedures trying to come up with a cause for the PLE.

Drugs are then given to deal with the symptoms of the syndrome and underlying conditions - Immunosuppressants (like corticosteroids) for inflammation, antibiotics, anti-parasitics, or anti-nausea drugs.

If your dog has been diagnosed with PLE, in my experience they have poor gut health and possibly poor heart health and poor liver health.

Based on my work with many dogs, you can vastly improve your dog’s health by feeding them the right foods and the right whole food supplements. This gives their body the nutrient building blocks to heal and regenerate. Their body starts to heal from the inside out, using health principles that have been around for centuries.

The conventional prognosis for a dog with PLE is very poor.  Your vet may be out of answers. This is a frightening place to be in.

“Sully is a French Bulldog and he is now four years old. He weighs 30.5 pounds. He was diagnosed with immune mediated neutropenia about a year and a half ago, which his gut seems to have fully recovered from. He also had liver issues, Extremely high ALT’s as a 1-2 year old. No one else could figure his liver issue out except you.  For that I am forever grateful."

"This has been such an encouraging experience with Rick. He has a great bedside manner and does a wonderful job explaining EXACTLY what is going on with your pet. While my Vet filled me with fear, he filled me with hope. Perhaps you might be a bit skeptical-- that is understandable. For your dog's sake, take a leap of faith and give him a call or email."
