(likely more than you would ever want to read :)

My nutritional approach works for the vast majority of dogs that use it. You will see this from the results below from hundreds of dogs.

Not everyone writes a review - less than 10% of the people I work with. But I hear similar positive results daily and get referrals weekly.

You will see below what can happen when you start to supply your dog's body with the right nutrition.

These reviews will help you decide if you should contact me for help or not.

My goal is that you start to feel hopeful that your beloved dog can return to the healthy, happy pup they are supposed to be and deserve to be.

Rick saved my dog's life! Gerdie, my 7 yr old Chihuahua, had seizures and was then diagnosed with likely liver shunt. Vet suggested expensive specialists and likely surgery and put her on seizure meds. I'm lucky to have found Rick before going to the specialist. After just a couple of months on his protocol she was off seizure meds. After 5-6 months her liver tests were normal! She's happy and playful again. I'm am so grateful to him.

I simply cannot believe the difference in Punky! How can she be so much better so quickly? Today she wanted to walk all the way around the park for the first time in quite a while! And suddenly she is hungry, even eating vegetables!!! It's truly like a miracle!  It seems like so often you read about these kind of results, like on your website, but you scarcely dare to hope it is true, and that it could actually happen to your dog....and in only a few days? I never would have dreamed it -- Thank you for all you do!!!!

Dakota seemed to improve only a couple hours after starting your suggestions. He started to eat again. He seemed to regain some quick energy and for the first time in 2 months was trotting across the yard. And played shortly with a toy he hadn't looked at in a while. This morning he seems a little more like my doggie, although doesn't want to touch some of the food. The difference between just totally lethargic for 4 weeks to noticeably improved is already exciting. UPDATE:  One week today! I can't keep up to him. His coat is soft and shiny. His eyes are beautiful. He just had broccoli and cauliflower. His energy is off the charts. I didn't just get my dog back, I got my puppy back. I am charting everything so I can send you details. Thank you!!

I wanted to touch base with you on Hazel's progress… she is doing great. She went from not wanting to eat, being lethargic, pacing around to eating a lot and playing around, which she had not done in months. It is a miracle. We are very grateful from the bottom of our hearts, no monetary donation will be able to repay what you have done for us.

I can’t thank you enough for the miracle you have given us. Our dog Missy had her first liver enzymes test done since we came to you last year. Her blood levels are normal and the cancer that she had is gone. Just unbelievable. My husband Joel and I are crying. You saved another dog's life. We are eternally grateful.

We have a 3 year old Shih Tzu, Fergus, that is the center of our universe. He's been struggling with liver Microvascular Dysplasia symptoms off and on for most of his life. In December, 2024, he was having gastrointestinal issues yet again. This time, it went on for 6 weeks. We spent hundreds of dollars at the vet, and left with 6 prescriptions and no real answers. When I did some more research on the drugs, I realized that some of them would likely make his symptoms worse. So in desperation, I stumbled upon Rick's website. I will admit...I was completely skeptical.

Fast forward nearly six months on Rick's protocol, and Fergus is THRIVING! We could not have imagined this back then. His coat is shimmering and he has gained 13 ounces, which he needed to do. He has been chronically underweight because of the liver issue. I continue to occasionally reach out to Rick, and he's always eager to help us. I also make sure to support his work with contributions, so that he can continue to help families like ours.

Rick is the real deal. He really understands and is so knowledgeable!

When I got Tate from a shelter, he was having seizures and very lethargic. I took Tate to my vet, he told me Tate is dying from a liver shunt. I was so upset and crying. I can't loose my little Tate. He was only 6 months old. I found Rick's website that a friend sent me. I immediately called Rick and asked him if he could help my little Tate and he said he could. I was so thankful for Rick. He came up with a plan for Tate and I followed the plan to the exact instructions. No more seizures  and Tate started feeling better.

Tate is now 2yrs old, and doing great. Thank God for Rick. Without him and his nutritional plan Tate would have died . I'm forever grateful for Rick for saving Tate's life. Because of Rick, Tate is now living his best life and enjoying being a happy, healthy pup. Thank you again Rick.

Tate and I couldn't have done it with out you. Keep up the great work you do.

In December, I was told that Oreo had end stage liver disease and that I should consider putting him down because he was suffering. Liver enzymes were elevated and he looked very bad. Couldn't walk. Couldn't stand well to uninate.

That is when I found you. Today an internal specialist said Oreo DOES NOT have end stage liver disease! HIs ALT and GGT liver enzymes are NORMAL. Bile Acid Test NORMAL. Platelet count is good. Platelets were so low before he had bruises all over his body!

Thank you for showing me the answer - healthy eating!

My Chihuahua was presumed to have MVD or a liver shunt but was not symptomatic. Being an MD, I wanted to provide the best chance for a healthy life. He has had elevated ALT and bile acids, in fact these have been up and down for several years. In May after about 6 weeks on your approach, his 2 hour after eating bile acid had decreased from 132 to 77. I have good news now after 6 months on your approach. He had his bile acids checked and they were great - his fasting was 10.8 and 2 hours after eating is 23. Almost normal!

Just last week Portia was in critical condition not expected to make it. I reached out to you and all I can say is AMAZING. It's only been five days and I'm here scratching my head asking myself, is this the same puppy that almost went to puppy heaven. Portia is playing, running and alert.

I'm impressed with everything that you have guided us through, quick responses and you actually care!

Thank you so much for caring & for helping me thru this! I have followed your instructions to a T & I can not believe the change in my boy today! :) He loves the food & devoured the Coconut water W/ Probiotics. I gave him Watermelon as a treat and he also loves that!!! I am over the top Excited. He slept a lot today which was so wonderful.  He has energy now & his eyes are clear, Amazing! I feel so good about this treatment!

I feel your advice saved my dog's life! We were told that without expensive surgery, he would only live another month, since his liver was under developed and his blood tests for liver function were off the charts. However, Kramer started improving immediately after I spoke with you. We started feeding him the whole foods you suggested and gave him the suggested supplements.

His liver function tests are now all NORMAL, and his vet called his recovery "miraculous"!  Thank you so much!

I feel as though I'm witnessing a miracle. Chuy started the supplements today. Before lunch we heard him barking at the door, I let him out he ran down the stairs went out in the yard , went to the bathroom and ran back up the stairs into the house. All of this he has not done in at least a month if not longer. This is amazing Rick, I don't know what to say. Thank you.

I am so pleased to inform you that the Ascites with Leo is gone! One week after we added Enzymes between meals and at bedtime, and changed to the week 4 diet, Leo's belly is flat. His energy levels are wonderful and he loves all the food and supplements.

On what I think is a positive note she has gone to her water bowl and drank water twice today that I know of. This is nothing short of a miracle. She hasn't done that in weeks, maybe over a month. It happened once last week. But today twice! She also heard a dog barking outside and ran and jumped up on the sofa to bark out the window. Also a first in some time.

I have to tell you, it is like a miracle!! Since we spoke, we started giving her the supplements again. She has responded great to this approach. She has so much energy now and her appetite has drastically improved. When we brought her to our holistic vet, he weighed her and couldn't believe it. He actually had to weigh her again because he thought it was a mistake. She has gained about 2 pounds and her blood work came back great as well.

If it was not for Rick and his approach I have no doubt that our two year dog Ginger would not be alive today. After finally agreeing to surgery for liver shunts I was called by the vet in the middle of the surgery to be told that Ginger had a least 30 of the shunts and the best thing to do was sew her back up and let her live as long as she could. I picked her up the next day and was given prescription dog food. After about a month Ginger could not keep any food or water down. She had also developed a large sore on her back. After immediately switching to Rick’s recommended diet and plan Ginger kept all her food down. It’s been a year and she is eating well and has lots of energy. The vet said she looks great, tooth and gums are healthy, and her fur is soft and shiny. I am most grateful.

You asked me to be patient and stick to the plan - as of today 5/10/14 the large bladder stone is completely dissolved!!!! All smaller stones also gone, no crystals, no infection, CBC and Chem Panel completely normal! When she was first diagnosed, both vets encouraged me to pursue surgery to remove the stone. But because we connected with you, our path to wellness changed and thank goodness for that...no surgery needed, just time and patience. My vet asked me if I had shared the recipe with Royal Canin and Hills! He said he would not have believed it if he did not see it in action. SuzieQ began your approach in October 2012 and by January of 2013 she was completely free of the bladder crystals or infection. It took time to dissolve the stone, but the time was so worth it.

I am happy to say, I still have no seizures to report after approx 2 months! I am so amazed. What a drastic change. I was within a few months of having to put her down because I couldn't control her seizures. I was just at my limits. I feel like you saved her life. She probably would not be here if it wasn't for you. Thank you for giving her a chance to live!

I wanted to take a moment and write you with an update on Princess. I swear I wish I could hug you! I am so pleased with how she has changed, she is almost like a new animal! Almost to the 'T' as your email stated may occur, she had a series of seizures about a month into the new diet. My father was visiting during this time and I also implemented quite a few more varieties of veggies and fruits at once so perhaps one of those two may have also instigated the onset of the detox. She has several for about a three day span or so and no more since. We are going on about maybe seven or eight weeks now I think. I honestly never imagined this would work, I almost felt as if I was getting sucked into an infomercial gimmick or something. I just didn't think there was that much difference in what we ate that would cause this significant difference in her health. She sleeps with me now where she used to hide out in my closet all the time.  She even stretches out and rolls on her back to have her belly rubbed! This seems like normal canine behavior but this was never typical behavior of this dog. You know, when she was taking her medication I thought that she was slightly suffering from some sort of mental retardation or something. It was like she couldn't really see me. I thought she may have had a hint of blindness from all the seizures. Now, she's so alert, she's such a joy.

I wanted to let you know how skeptical I was when I first started this whole healthy eating and supplement regimen for my dog. Even though I felt I had nothing to lose by trying it I still was concerned about what some of the side effects would be from detoxing and also I wasn't sure if the cost and food prep was worth it. Luigi's blood work back in April was what made me search the web. Although he was 11 I knew my husband was not going to agree to thousands of dollars in vet bills to try and determine what was causing his high liver enzyme levels. Luigi's ALT was 509, his AST was 71 and his ALKP was 197. Now, after 2 1/2 months Luigi has lost a few pounds, looks amazing and is acting like a puppy!! Before I ordered more supplements I figured I would have his liver levels tested again. His ALT is 130!!!!! AST is 26 and ALKP is 127.

I can't thank you enough for your commitment to your work with animals. You obviously are quite passionate about this and go above and beyond to inform people. Thank you for answering all my questions so quickly and thoroughly!

So, now Scamper's gone from an ALT of 427 to 129 two months ago, to 88 (securely in the normal range), thanks to a real food diet and supplements. Yea!!

I just received April's blood test results and I'm happy to inform you that within three weeks that April has been on the new program, her ALKP has gone from 1,999 down to 653 a decrease of 1,346 or 67.33 % (She has not been at this level for years!!! ). All our veterinarian said was “AMAZING !!!!!”. (The rest of her lab work was also great or considerably better than prior tests).

I wanted to give you a recent update on Bailey. Last week, I brought her to get her blood work tested to see how the diet was helping. All I can say is that the vet was COMPLETELY shocked by her results. Obviously the diet is working! Here are Bailey's test results (both past and present)":

ALT results:

5/20/2014-  854

5/27/2014 - 558

6/18/2014 - 432

9/4/2014 -   101

Sammy just had his blood work checked. The elevated liver enzyme went from 1900 down to 198 in 2 months. The vet didn't know what to say because all the medicines they had been giving him had not fixed the problem, in fact the count continued to rise.

I have some great news! The results of Ross' bloodwork show ALL liver values NORMAL!!! Quite dramatic, since his ALT levels were in the 800's only 6 months ago.

Wonderful experience seeing my dog come back to life with your supplement and nutritional advice.  Amy's test results

1/14/2015    ALT 887   ALKP 929

2/21/2015   ALT 287   ALKP 692

3/12/2015   ALT 278   ALKP 300

4/14/2015   ALT 210   ALKP 259

10/26/2015 ALT 135  ALKP 156

2/1/2016      ALT 85   ALKP 143    Amy's liver is BACK TO NORMAL!

For the first time since the birth of Gigi she finally had a test results within NORMAL ALT liver enzymes range! I just got a call from the vet. My time and effort is well worth it!  Thank you so much!! I'm a happy Mommy today!!

In May 2015 his ALT was off the charts at 2700+ and the ALKP was 2500+. He has made dramatic improvements in 6 months. ALT is now NORMAL. ALKP is down to 193.

3+ vets and an endocrinologist couldn't figure it out thinking she had Cushing's Disease, Addisons, liver shunts etc. Her ALKP liver enzyme was 12,000!! After starting on your approach, Lola's ALKP numbers went down to 266 in 60 days from the 12K. The staff at Cornell - who along with the Univ of Tenn specialize in liver shunts - were blown away by the results.

Our dog Noel was diagnosed with liver failure and the vet recommended surgery. I contacted Rick and he suggested a new diet for her along with supplements. After each of her blood tests her numbers kept improving. Last week the blood test showed Noel is back to normal. Without Rick's help Noel did not have very good chances of surviving.

I just wanted to let you know that Ocean's liver enzymes are NORMAL!!!! After four months of your diet and supplements. If I could hug and kiss you, I would! Thank you so much! I will obviously continue her diet and supplements. Thank you from the bottom of my little heart!

In less than a month of using Rick's approach for my beloved Elsie, her liver enzymes are back to normal.

My 11yr old Bichon Sam was quite poorly with high liver enzymes. The vet's approach didn't help and made him worse. Since starting Sam on real food and suggested supplements, he is like a new dog. He has gone from sleepy and sluggish to alert and energetic in as little as 2 weeks.

With Rick's helpful instructions our dog's whole life has changed. We just had him at the Vet for blood work and his Liver Enzymes went from over 700 down to 100-130 range which is normal now. Lucky was also having seizures and was very lethargic before we started him on the whole food diet.

Two vets said my 10 year old Labradoodle, Goofy, was on limited time due to a 560+ liver function count. They prescribed medication to help with the pain. I found Dogliver.com's website, followed the diet and Goofy is now a healthy vibrant pooch!

All her numbers are much better in recent blood work, some are even in normal range now! This has happened in only a 3 month period. I think Zoey's vet was amazed.

We took Deuce for his check up today after about 3 months on the diet and his Liver Enzymes were normal! The vet called to ask how?

The experience I had was totally awesome. Rocky had his spleen out last March and was in failing health. I contacted Rick and I followed his plan and we have had amazing results. They helped me with every step. After just 3 weeks his blood work is perfect.

Rick is amazing! My 10 yr old Scottie had elevated liver values. ALP started increasing rapidly from May 2014 to June 2015 - 757 to 2300. I was already preparing his food but felt I could do better. I took my chances on this site. 2 months into the program (8/2015), another blood test - ALP is 949, a 59% reduction (not to mention other values reduced)! The veterinarian's response - On the right path, WOW!

Kiki Bear is a 14 year old Toy Poodle and we have been on your approach for 5 months. Three weeks ago I took Kiki back to the vet and had her blood tested. The vet was AMAZED and could not believe the new test results. She needed to know how we did it.

I have a background in natural health and when I read what was on your website, I knew you knew what you were about. The web can be a scary place to trust anyone.  Your help and step by step instructions were a Godsend! The results were nothing less than miraculous. But, we're not done yet, I feel like we've just started.

Layla is an 8 year old Westie who was suffering from Liver disease and was given months to live in December 2014. Since putting her on the recommended whole food diet and supplements she has made a remarkable recovery. Layla's ALT was 740 and now is 41 her lowest level ever. She has more energy and her eyes are brighter and she so loves her food now and is very vocal about letting us know when its time to eat.

It has been 4 months since I first reached out to you for help. My dog's situation is much much improved. Recent blood test in Dec told very encouraging results – all within normal range. His ALT has even dropped to 44 (in June, it was over 200!). Now he looks happier and more energetic than before!

18 months ago Maddie was very ill. Her liver enzymes were elevated beyond the high range on the vet's bloodwork and she was diagnosed with Valley Fever. 10 months later she no longer had Valley Fever. Today she is 100% back to normal and thriving on the diet.

When I first spoke with Rick, my dog's enzyme levels were nearly 7X higher than they should be. After following Rick's advice from January, 2015 until June, 2015 his ALT enzymes went from 718 down to 113 and ALKP went from 405 down to 48. Without Rick I'm afraid my 2 year old Boxer might not be here today!

Last year, I got devasting news - my dog had elevated liver enzymes. As usual, you guide yourself by what the veterinarian has to say and suggest for treatment. We did all kinds of tests, but to no avail. I felt it was wrong to have to be giving my dog medicated food and medicines. Thankfully, I found Rick, my dog has been herself again. She is so playful and so alert. I'm amazed by the change and how active she is.

Rick, just wanted to let you know we took Molly to the vet last Friday for a blood check. We got the greatest news ever when they told us her liver enzymes had fallen from 1188 down to 252 in just a six month period.

The best part is my senior dog’s liver and kidney values went from very high to normal over a two year period of following Rick’s diet for dogs.

We have a French Bulldog that had a liver enzyme score of almost 700. We followed Rick's diet and supplement suggestion to a tee for 6 months. When he was re-tested his score had fallen to 129, not only was that in the range of normal but it was the lowest it had ever been.

When I first contacted you, Milo's liver enzymes were high, trending higher and he had just been diagnosed with bladder stones.  His liver enzymes at that time on 3/1/16 were at a record high for him:

ALT:  167  ALKP:  533

We had him rechecked 6 weeks after making his diet/supplement change and we saw significant improvement:

ALT:  138  ALKP:  267

We are thrilled to see the numbers drop as they did.

Saxon's Bile Acid Test numbers and liver enzymes were off the charts!  Now two years later the vet says this “I am looking at Saxon's blood panel and I am completely blown away at what I see. This dog is in absolute perfect health. I cannot believe what I am seeing based upon where he was 2 years ago.

Just got the 6 month checkup labs for Panzer. The vet kept saying, “Wow, Wow, Wow”.  He’s put on weight (which is very good), and all his blood levels are not just good, they are optimal. She said if I wanted to show Panzer, he is at his “optimal”. He’s got everything the judges would be looking for. According to her, he’s a “beautiful boy”.

Daisy has returned to life from near death.  I have been following Rick's diet and supplement advice for my tiny little Chorkie, Daisy since December 2013. She was near death, with liver failure and encephalopathy and had been sent home to die by my vet. I live in the UK so everything was done by email. Rick was so supportive, answering all of my questions and encouraging me to be patient and not to give up. Now, the end of March 2014, she is almost back to her normal self and enjoys her food and daily walks.

Molly and Oscar love love love all the food you recommended! I am impressed that it is going so well. They also adore the supplements you recommended that they are currently on. This is going so well. Molly is forever smiling and looks happier than ever and I must tell you that Oscar's nose has been ugly and cracked for so many years now that I did not remember what is nose looked like when it was healthy but it is now back!!! His nose is looking fantastic and all the cracks have gone and he his a black shiny nose just like the rest of my pups. Both my husband and myself are extremely excited about what is happening right now.

Sequoia is doing amazing on her new diet. She is responding as you said she would, constantly wanting to eat. I can no longer eat any fruits in the house without Sequoia being right by my side begging for a piece. Prior to this diet she never enjoyed eating. It's incredible to see her really enjoying herself and running around with a whole new energy level.

Our dog is absolutely loving her new diet and she is full of energy & sass. She cannot wait for me to set her bowl down. It is so good to see her feel so good. She is fully transitioned to the new diet too. I proudly threw out the Science Diet Rx formula. The first supplements were started this morning & she took them as you instructed me without any problems. I can't thank you enough for all your support & emails!

I am so grateful for the help that you are providing. My three little girls are the healthiest dogs I have ever had and I know it is because of the real food diet and supplements.  I can’t thank you enough for basically saving little Roxie! She hasn’t had a seizure since the first week of July (almost 4 months) and is now so healthy and full of energy… pretty amazing.

Thank you, Rick, sooo much for all the info and concern you have given and continue to give for Kibble. I know there are others out there as lost and scared for their furry babies as I was. I was thinking Kibble’s problem was dementia or other possible brain issues as I knew nothing about Hepatic Encephalopathy. I don’t know what I would have done without you. Now she is an eating machine and very happy/yappy with anyone who will listen. Your nutritional approach has saved Kibble’s life. I hope that you are able to help many, many others. Keep up the good work!

Brought Butter to see the vet today to get her annual blood test. Her previous blood test already showed a significant improvement after starting on your approach and this time, her bloodwork came out to be perfect! Once again, I would like to thank you for all your help and kindness this while. I can never imagined how it would be like if I did not pounce upon your website almost 1.5 years ago. My vet's never understood how we got Butter's bloodwork to be this perfect, but they always mention whatever we're doing, we're doing it right.

I took Rudy to the vet today. I told the vet your regimen he is on and she thought that was great.  She did a liver enzymes test on him - last year it was 800 - today it was 71.

Wanted you to know that Maxie's blood work was perfect!!! The Vet said and I quote “So what are we doing different for Maxie??” Explained a bit yet she was amazed that the test was perfect......I cannot thank u enough!

I can't tell you how much we are pleased with all of the information that Rick provided us to help get our beloved Rocky back to optimal liver health. Rocky's liver enzymes were high for quite a while and no prescription medication provided by the veterinarians was able to get that number under control. After finding out about Rick he provided us with an alternative solution using natural foods and supplements. I am happy to report that his extremely high liver enzymes are now way down into the normal range. He is at a very good weight and is very active right now for a dog that is almost 10. Thank you again Rick for all of your help!

ALT 75 now! (194 8/6/16) (167 6/27/16)  My vet was very surprised at her ALT numbers - almost didn't believe it. She said her ALT hasn't been that low since she was 6 months old and she just turned 8. We are so excited and will continue on her supplements and food.

I'm happy to report that his ALKP/ALT values are now normal! Quite drastic results actually...here are the numbers from August 31 / October 17 / Nov 28 today: (ALKP/ALT) 609/499. 182/352. 111/26. Amazing, right?

I'm crying through my tears of joy. Harvey had bloodwork on Saturday and the vet just called his liver enzymes are totally normal as is all his other bloodwork!!!! It works, it works, it works. All his finicky picky eating and my tears of frustration with him not eating has turned into wow he eats when he wants and how much he wants. And he is healthy !!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I wanted to let you know that Cali's labs are remaining in the Normal range after a year on your program; she is perfect! I've recommended and will continue to recommend people to your site.

Maddie's ALT liver enzyme count was almost to 1200. That was 7 months ago when we first began talking to you and began her on your approach. Her ALT numbers are now down to 453!!!! Every vet in the entire animal hospital filtered into the room to ask us questions about what we've been doing and how we got her numbers to drop so much. They were in complete shock, seeing as how they all thought her liver would fail within 1- 3 months. Her AST numbers are 108, ALP is 64, and GGT is 26. Her bilirubin and albumen numbers came back normal. We cannot begin to tell you how happy we are with her results.

Neely is just terrific! His blood count went down to 75. When I contacted you it was 7400. Thank you so much for all your help. We are still continuing all the steps you provided to us.

I'm so excited that I can barely contain myself. I just went to the vet on Saturday to have Mia and Rylee's liver values retested. Rylee's liver values are completely normal!!! Mia's are normal, too!!!! The doctor wanted me to check in with you because he said Mia's bile acid is still slightly elevated but it is WAY lower than it was, so he wants me to keep doing exactly what you tell me to do. I wish I could thank you in person. I'm so grateful!!!!!!

I can't thank you enough for you're commitment to your work with animals. You obviously are quite passionate about this and go above and beyond to inform people. Thank you for answering all my questions so quickly and thoroughly!

We have GREAT news!! We took Pepper into our vet to recheck her ALT. She was 238 before. We started your program 2 1/2 months ago. She's already a 48!! We are soooo happy." Her ALT now in another 2 months is 39! BUN was 40 (it should be 7- 27) and now it is 21!"  "We took Pepper to her vet a couple of days ago to recheck her ALT & it was still in the normal range. (56) The vet said she looks great, healthy weight etc.. We were so relieved & it confirmed to us that your program is working for her.

I had Joey's liver enzyme levels checked for the first time since his original diagnosis. I was a bit fearful that the results would not be what I so fervently hoped for. You will be proud to know that by following your advice and committing to the changes you suggested Joey's ALT levels went from 244 to 59 ❤️perfect perfect perfect. He just had his first birthday on the 16th of this month.

Follow-up test:  I'm happy to (again) inform you that April's blood test result was EXTREMELY GOOD". The veterinarian could not understand how April's ALKP has decrease from 1,999 on June 23, 2016 to 304 as of today August 19, 2016, a whooping 1,695 or 84.79 % in two months.  Thank you again for all the help. Amazing - that's all I can say !!!!!

Further update:  April went for a dental cleaning a couple of days ago (late Sept 2016 - the first one in a couple of years. We had to postpone it for a couple of years due to her extremely high ALKP) and prior to the dental cleaning she had a pre-anesthetic blood test to make sure that her liver values (and others) were not a concern. The vet was amazed to find that her ALKP was 166.00 !!!! A long way down from 2,000 a few months ago. Incredible, that's all she could say !!!

"I wanted to share some AMAZING news with you. They did bloodwork on Wally when I took him in this past week. I got results on Friday (this was the first blood work I have done since I changed his diet).  HIS LIVER HAS SEEN 100% IMPROVEMENT AND ALL OF HIS ORGANS ARE WORKING PERFECTLY!  What a miracle! The tears of joy won't stop coming. You truly saved us. I could not be more grateful. I would absolutely love to write my story for you to share with other pet owners."

3 year old Morkie started having seizures about 6 months ago and was diagnosed with a liver shunt from my vet who recommended traditional methods to help his condition such as an ultrasound and eventually surgery. I found this wonderful website that outlined how to cure my dog's condition with organic foods and supplements. It has been almost 4 months and this is the best thing I could have done for my dog and to greatly improve the quality of his life.

Abigail is my 12 year old Papillon who was diagnosed with a liver shunt at age 5. She had been fine for years and then everything changed. She stopped eating & showed signs of fear and confusion, even appearing to go deaf. The vet wasn't hopeful. That’s when I found your website. After our phone call and following your recommendations, within 48 hours even my vet was shocked and amazed at the changes (and he followed your predicted script to the letter, wanting more meds & expensive appts). Her seizures stopped within 2 weeks, and 4 months later Abigail is doing wonderfully!! Her health is great, and incredibly enough, her entire life her coat has not been quite as plush as many other Papillons, but since changing her diet over and giving her the supplements her coat has grown immensely, it was so thick it took me almost 2 hours to groom and shave her, and she's only 7 pounds! She went from 12 to 7 lbs. I initially gave her the supplements, then slacked off as I didn't see that she really needed them, and she experienced a drastic weight loss, but I restarted them and her weight stabilized. I'm a believer for sure now! I pass your info along to everyone that might need it!

About 11 years ago we brought a Heeler into our home. We found out she had a liver shunt. Vet said he could fix it for about $2K. Then I found Rick - He gave me his regimen to follow. She lived almost 10 years. When we get our next dog we will be feeding that same recipe - She was extremely healthy and her coat was always shiny. All I can say is follow what Rick tells you. We really appreciate what Rick did - saving our Glory's life! As a teacher I didn't like to give out an A+ for Rick, it would have to be an A+++++++

After 4 weeks Brooklyn is now completely off Rx Royal Canin kibble. She is now on a 100% real food diet thanks to your guidance. Amazing – where have you been??!! I am so in debt with all the tests after tests after tests. Glad I chose not to do a liver biopsy.  We went through a period of her having tremors before and I realized we have not had any now for weeks. OUR BONUS HERE IS SHE IS SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT – I told you we used to get up every hour (did I mention it was every hour…..?). Her sleeping pattern is superb now, sleeping all through the night.

Brooklyn and I continue to be forever thankful to you….and I cannot stop telling absolutely everyone I know about this and you!

Just so you know, my husband is telling me to “get off the soap box” because I have become such a fanatic about what you are teaching me. It is no secret that nutrition is most important to our health but to experience this miraculous transition in Brooklyn, it is rather consuming to see it happening. It is hard to believe that just a couple of months ago, I remember her having funky spells where she would suddenly get up from a sleep and appear to be a zombie in a trance – just staring at nothing. One of my other border terriers (her husband) was even spooked by her. Her breathing was so labored and raspy, I would hold her and cry as I told her how much I loved her and was not ready to let her go…..that is how bad she was!

I share this with you because in my mind, you are Brooklyn’s Guardian Angels! She is my 2012 Xmas present as I never thought she would still be with me when I reached out to you for help less than 2 months ago.  Again, my heartfelt thanks….

After a blood work was done on my dog Oreo's, the results came back showing some not-so-good numbers, especially in her liver. As any fur parent would, I wanted to find the right approach for my dog, one that didn't involve surgeries or a whole bunch of medications. After numerous hours of researching, I stumbled upon Rick's website. I contacted him and started Oreo on her new lifestyle. Her liver numbers were 400 and in less than six months they were down to 85. Thanks to Rick, my dog is so much happier now!

After being on the program for two months Carter's ALP levels dropped from 654 to 206 and all other liver levels are normal. This is great news and his vet is impressed by the progress. We will definitely continue our feeding and supplement regimen. Thanks again for your help and advice.

After losing one of our westies in March of this year (2022) following a very short illness that affected his liver and kidneys, I did an internet search in April to try to understand what happened and found Rick. Our other westie, 13 1/2 years in March, was diagnosed with ALT of 1,900 and normal is below 200. I read the testimonials and contacted Rick right away. After a conversation I hopped on board with no hesitations. I have followed all the recommendations to a tee. While Rick warned it could take over a year to see results, after only 5 months Rupert's ALT liver enzymes have dropped to 500. Our vet is amazed as are we. We are ecstatic and we are doing the happy dance. We have noticed such a difference and improvement in our little one. His energy has picked up and his hair that was thinning in spots is coming back in thicker. He is also sleeping through the night. Anyone who is on the fence about trying this, I encourage you to go ahead, so worth it in every aspect. I just wish I would have found Rick in January of this year and we may still have had our little Bentley. We will continue this program for as long as Rupert lives. Thank you so much Rick!

After only one month on Rick’s program, our 3-year-old, 5 lb. Yorkie-Poo Callie is completely normal! Last May, at Callie’s annual exam, a routine blood test showed that her ALT was elevated. It was 225. She appeared perfectly healthy and all other bloodwork was normal. She had her blood tested a year earlier prior to her spaying and all of her levels were normal, so this was a new situation. We decided to take the first step and do a bile acid test. The results were normal which indicated that it was not a liver shunt. We ran a Protein C blood test which indicated that a shunt may be present. We did an ultrasound which was inconclusive. It didn’t show a shunt but there was some area of turbulence, so we couldn’t be positive. The specialist prescribed Clavamox as a first line treatment in case this was viral. Initially it seemed to work, but her ALT levels continued to climb after the course of antibiotic. Our vet worked with us as we tried to eliminate flea and tick meds to see if they were the cause, tried another round of Clavamox and nothing worked. The next step was going to be a CT scan and a liver biopsy on our totally asymptomatic and seemingly healthy dog. Both the vet and the specialist felt that it was nothing that she was eating that could be causing this, but it made no sense to us. As it turned out, it was what she WASN’T eating that was the problem. We found doglivershunt.com as we were doing research to figure out what our options were. We filled out the questionnaire and received a prompt reply from Rick. His approach of real food and whole food supplements was so different than what we had been doing. It took us a little time and an ALT level just under 500 to make up our minds. His website had so many testimonials from happy owners and now healthy pets that we decided to try it before we went back to the specialist. Rick was there to guide us along the way, answering many questions and making changes to fit Callie’s specific needs as they arose. Callie took to the diet very quickly, and after only one month on the program, her ALT is normal at 104. Amazing results. We are beyond grateful.

After taking Margo to the vet and being told to just put her down (4 months old), I was heartbroken. After getting home my mom started a Google search for anything to help. She found Rick, and what a blessing he has been. Margo is full of life (9 months old) and is living life just like any other puppy. Instead of putting her down like the vet said, Rick's advice and eating preferences have given Margo a second chance. She is the spoiled little girl she was always supposed to be. Trust Rick, he won't let you or your loved pup down. Thank you Rick!!

Almost 4 yrs ago my collie had allergy issues related to her dog food. Her fur fell out and skin became inflamed and gummy. Some skin areas turned black. Nothing the vets did helped- in fact made it worse. Searching the internet for natural healing I found Rick’s number. Initial conversation was 30 min about diet and supplements. I did not feel I could afford the supplements but started her on the diet. She improved but not enough. So I started the supplements and everything changed. She thrived on diet/ supplements and never had commercial dog food after that. It takes time to prepare the meals but so worth it. And what you pay in supplements you won’t pay in vet bills. Rick was always available to answer questions and I’ve learned a lot about nutrition for my pets and myself from him and the newsletters. The vet admitted they have little training in nutrition. July 1 of this year I had to have my sweet Sally put to sleep at the age of almost 16. Thanks to Rick we had almost 4 extra years together. He literally saved her life as I had decided if he couldn’t help us I was putting her down as she was miserable. Thank you Rick.

Although it requires some dedication, it's worth it, as we are seeing improvements: only two seizures since he started and he is gaining some body weight after years of barely eating!

Before ALT 853, now 121
             AST 133, now 38
             ALP 2419, now 208

I was so ecstatic with this news. Would you believe that the first thing the vet said, before even telling me the lab results (which I had to pull out of her), was, “we need to work up his liver ASAP.” Wow....unbelievable! I can’t believe that the labs alone were not enough to convince her that I am doing the right thing for Butters. I am so incredibly grateful to you from the bottom of my heart. Also, when we first took him to the vet 9 months ago Butters was at his lowest weight ever of 3.6 lbs!! At his prime health he was 4.4 lbs and he has always been thin. He is currently 4.8 lbs!!!! My 13 year old Pomeranian, Bailey who also follows your diet, had perfect labs recently. Thank you so much for everything and for always being available for questions and concerns. I am eternally grateful.

Bella had new blood work this week and everything was in normal levels (which is amazing!) It has been just under 8 months on your program.

Bella's seizures are gone! I am happy to say, I still have no seizures to report after approx 2 months! I am so amazed. What a drastic change. I was within a few months of having to put her down because I couldn't control her seizures. I was just at my limits. I feel like you saved her life. She probably would not be here if it wasn't for you. Thank you for giving her a chance to live!!

BLOOD WORK PERFECT. I AM SO HAPPY. You are a gift from GOD. THANK U AGAIN. ME AND Maxie. God bless you always!

Dot and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you did for our Molly. The program you put Molly on has did wonders for her, she runs and plays like never before.

Effie is enjoying life again. She has the sparkle in her eyes and she goes on short walks and she is even barking again. She is doing a lot of things she did as a young fur baby. We are so pleased with the way she is responding to the changes you helped us make in her diet and life. Thank you so very much. Her numbers are good with her blood work, not ideal yet but getting there. Thank you for helping save our little fur baby.

Emily, is a new dog. I didn't have much faith at first, but boy, was I wrong. Thank you.

Finley is a 4 1/2 year old female Labrador that suffered from chronic UTIs. After a series of tests recommended by our vet and an ultrasound, we discovered Finley's kidneys and bladder are perfectly normal. The ultrasound did reveal that one-half of her liver is fatty, non-functioning tissue. A bile acid test confirmed poor liver function. Wanting to avoid the trauma of a liver biopsy and meds, we found your website in October 2017 and contacted you. We immediately started Finley on a real food homemade diet and supplements. She is thriving following your suggested regimen and I wanted to reach out to you and provide you with an update. I recently requested that our vet repeat the bile acid test. As Finley was due for her annual check-up, the vet asked us to bring her in for a routine appointment. They did a chemistry panel (bloodwork) on Finley. The results showed ALT of 230, down from almost 800 in September 2017. The vet suggested we continue to monitor Finley by repeating the bloodwork in 6 months. Finley has made amazing progress. She is energetic and LOVES her food! Thank you for turning Finley's health around with your continued advice and support. You are a true blessing!

First and foremost- Thank you Rick for your kindness, knowledge and dedication to helping our dogs. My dog, Alana, after hundreds of dollars and months of watching our yorkie have seizure like episodes was diagnosed with a liver shunt. We were told the surgery would cost minimum 10 thousand plus life of meds and RX dog food, with no guarantee that the shunt wouldn’t return. She was only 1 1/2 yrs old, I was so upset and didn’t want to give up hope for our puppy. With some research I found Rick. I was weary at first but thought I have nothing to lose. We are now 1 year on the program that Rick helped us make and my dog has never been better. After her detox period, seizures have completed stopped for now over 8 months, Her eyes are bright, her coat returned to a shiny healthy texture and she started playing again (she completed stopped playing). She now eats a healthy diet and returned back into a healthy dog. Rick was always there helping us through every step and always answered all my questions anytime I have them. Again, Thank you for the bottom of my heart for saving my dog ! I tell everyone about you and our success.

First of all I want to give glory to my Jesus for leading me to Rick. I had been praying for weeks for an answer. Harley was so sick and I couldn't stand seeing her that way. She would wonder around the house aimlessly, salivating. At times she stumbled like she was drunk. She wouldn't eat but when she did she became more sick. I took her to several vet's and they were all saying the same thing; internal medicine, ultra sound, exploratory surgery etc.. One vet did give me a name to her illness and said she might be able to have a normal life with the right meds and food. I was beginning to think the merciful thing to do would be to put her down. On a Friday I cried and prayed for the answer. I remembered the one vet had gave me the name of the condition she had so I started researching on google. That's when I came upon Rick's web site. I began reading the testimonies of those who had dogs that had experienced the same things and were transformed to healthy pets by following his recommendations. I felt a flicker of HOPE! I submitted my name and phone number. Rick called the next day. I followed his recommendations. I now have a healthy pup! Thank you Rick! Thank you Jesus!

For the past year Hanna has been having seizures every 3 weeks. We are now going into the 5th Week with no seizure. She is so much happier and has a very waggy tail and a far better quality of life. Even the vet has noticed the difference in her and is quite amazed she hasn’t had a seizure yet. Thank you for all your help -  it's marvelous.

Good news! After 5 months Rambo’s alkaline phosphate is down to 175 from 358! Almost normal - vet said to keep doing what I’m doing and she expects that it will be within normal range in another few months.

Great news - we had Rambo's levels tested again and his alkaline phosphate is normal at 87! So it went from 352, to 175, now to 87. It has taken about 9 months.  I am so, so pleased.

He had no energy and no quality of life He got sicker with every vaccine and preventives. Then we started him on these supplements and the raw diet, got him off all commercial food and all preventives and meds. He loves eating now and has so much energy. It's night and day. I am so very grateful that I found you and these amazing quality supplements. They have changed Stewie's life !!

Hi Rick - I just wanted to thank you so much for providing the life saving diet and supplements that has extended my dog Cheyenne’s life. She is now 17 years old and has been on your supplements for over 5 years. I have shared your information with other friends as your supplements are great for humans as well as dogs with shunt liver problems. Wishing your family a wonderful holiday! Gail & Cheyenne

His Alt was 189 and his BUN was 33. Blood work now is ALT 74 and BUN is 23. You can see the huge improvement. Thanks again for all your amazing help.

Hopper is a 5 year old Mini Schnauzer. 2.5 years ago he had 7 bladder stones removed. He was put on prescription Hills Science Diet UD and Royal Canin UC with no improvement and had his 2nd bladder stone operation right before we found you. It has been 2 months since we started Hopper on your suggested diet and supplements. He started off with a pH of 10 and I am happy to report he is now down to a 7!! That is a miraculous change. His second surgery and ER visit at midnight cost $3990 which was hard for us, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to put him down. Thanks for your help, we think we will have Hopper around for a long time now thanks to you.

I am beyond thrilled!!!! 4 months ago Lola's ALP was 997 and her ALT was 234.  Now her ALP is 444 and her ALT is 157. The vet is very happy with her progress as well. She is definitely moving in the right direction. Lola is happy and healthy.  You would never know she is going to be 13 years old this year. I plan on continuing with everything so she stays well.

I am elated! I have seen my precious little dog, Hana, go from being consistently ill to wonderfully healthy in a matter of under three months.

I am grateful to have 'accidentally found' your website in 2013. I have been following your protocol almost to the letter for all these years. Sparkey was given 6 mo. to live with Liver Shunt Disease and is now a healthy and well dog - he does have skin allergies which are currently under control using your raw diet suggestions. His liver enzymes and bile levels are normal now. Nikki has also been following the raw diet and supplement protocol and has no health issues. What you state on your website has proven to be true for me and my animals. Thank you so much, words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation. Linda

I am so excited!! She absolutely loves the raw veggies and meat and coconut water! I would recommend this program to anyone and will continue on a maintenance program so that she will remain well.

I am so grateful for the recommendations made by the owner of this company. My dogs have never been healthier. I know that what he recommends is the absolute best.

I contacted Rick about 4 years ago out of pure desperation. I had three different vet hospitals tell me that my dog would not survive another two weeks and to consider putting him down. My son was hysterical, and I had just lost my own mother. I sent Rick an email, and he called me first thing the next morning. He explained some things and provided me with step-by-step instructions. I followed his instructions, and after about a week, my dog started to get better. Slowly he got even better, and it continued. Four years later, the dog I was told would not survive another two weeks is still going strong. He is healthy and happy. He still sees a specialist once a year. In the last two years, his liver levels have come back within the normal range. The vet asks what I am doing on each visit and is always surprised at how well his blood work comes back. I still follow the guidelines provided to me by Rick. Not only is my dog still with us, but we have learned valuable lessons about the importance of diet and applied it to our own health. My kids and I are forever grateful.

I felt hopeless about my dog's health until I spoke with Rick. I appreciated his friendliness and his optimism. He was and still is there for me (and Maggie) as a support person while Maggie regains her health. Thank you Rick!

I came across Rick’s information after my dog was diagnosed with kidney disease. My dog was my heart and the thought of something being wrong with him destroyed me. Of course the vet wanted to take traditional approaches and have an ultrasound and possibly a biopsy and some other things that he would need to be put under anesthesia for and my dog hated the vet. I did some research on natural ways of healing the body and found this website. I had a consultation and began to implement the recommendations immediately. My dog Marley was put on an all organic natural food diet along with several supplements recommended by Rick. Marley excelled and his health improved so much! He lost weight, his kidney function was good, and I was able to enjoy three more years with my baby. I am confident that I would not have had this time if I didn’t listen to Rick and follow through with the diet and supplements he recommended. Thank you for the extra time and health you allowed me to give Marley! I am forever grateful and would recommend this to anyone looking to help their dogs live longer, healthier lives.
